Why I Blog

I blog because I love the written word.

It speaks to me and feeds my soul.

I divide the written word into two main categories.

First, there is the word of God found in the Bible, written down for all humanity for all time. It's in a category all its own. It's special and like no other words ever written.

For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. John 6: 68

The words of the Bible are life giving and life changing. I've staked my life on them. If your time is limited, don't read my words, read God's.

The second category of the written word is...everything else ever put down on paper. A lot is trash, but a lot is treasure. The trash has inspired me what NOT to do. And the treasure...ahh...the treasure, has inspired me to think better thoughts and to live a better life. It has encouraged me.

I blog because I want to encourage - encourage us all to love God, love others, and love who God made us to be. I hope it encourages you to think better thoughts and to live a better life.

I blog because I love the creativity this forum affords. I love the challenge of trying to find that perfect turn of words that conveys what I'm thinking/feeling in my deepest parts. In addition, I blog because I see this platform as a way to record the life God gave me to live - for my kids, their kids and...ad infinitum!

I blog because I want to share what I'm learning in different areas - in my marriage, parenting, homemaking...living! Maybe someone out there can learn from my successes and failures!

And lastly, I blog because I find this whole blogging thing fun! I lose track of time when I'm writing. I almost forget to eat! I'll stay up later than I ever do to finish working on a post! I'm passionate about it and see The Dash: 1961- as a real gift from God.

I pray I use it to His glory!
