It's polite.
It's respectful.

"Though *I have not seen him, I love him. Though I do not now see him, I believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of my faith, the salvation of my soul." I Peter 1:8-9 (*replaced all occurrences of "you" with "I.")

We attempted to teach our kids, but the culture was sooooo against us in Florida, we were marginally successful. Like, only one out of the 5 really got it, the others were in and out a lot! (Kelly West)
ReplyDeleteA valiant effort, though!!
DeleteI totally laugh at the southern stereotype this evokes, but you're right about it being polite. Then again I, at 29 and married four years, still cringe when people call me "Mrs.", though not as badly as when they call me "Miss" or worse yet "young lady".
